Operating Enterprises in the Age of Intelligence
Dennis Van Aelst
Operating in the Age of Intelligence is where I work through what I’ve learned and what I’m still trying to understand. This is simply a place to share observations, experiences, and ideas that continue to challenge my thinking. It’s a place to think out loud about the challenges that emerge when organizations combine people, processes, technology, and intelligence. Not the polished conference version. The reality that shows up when you’re responsible for delivery, accountable for outcomes, and trying to make sense of a rapidly changing world.
Ultimately, I believe that every technology trend eventually becomes an operating model discussion. The organizations that succeed over the next decade won’t necessarily be those with the most AI or automation. They will be the ones that learn how to combine people, intelligence, processes, and technology to consistently deliver business value.
About me
For the past two decades, I’ve worked with enterprises on business automation, intelligent document processing, low-code platforms, and digital transformation initiatives. While the technologies have evolvedffrom document capture and RPA to AI and enterprise copilots, the questions have remained remarkably consistent. How should organizations adapt to technological change? Who owns emerging capabilities? How do we operate them at scale? And how do we continue to deliver business value? These are the questions that increasingly shape my work and writing.
Throughout my career, I’ve led teams delivering enterprise solutions across platforms like OpenText, Microsoft Power Platform, UiPath,… Today, my focus extends beyond technology implementation to exploring how organizations should operate when intelligence becomes an integral part of their business capabilities.
When I’m not thinking about operating models and enterprise transformation, you’ll probably find me running, cycling, baking sourdough bread, or spending time with family and friends.
